What We Measure
At the heart of change management is engaging everyone in a way that is different than managing them. To accomplish this requires that what we measure changes. Key performance areas help us track things that influence the changes in engagement, number of problems identified and a host of others. Also included in what we measure are actions and behaviors which impact results. This change in what we measure and what we celebrate are also part of a transparent way for people to see that this process is focused on business improvements. Improvement in these areas will result in people changing their reluctance to contribute. When this happens they become more engaged and offer the input helps create sustainable solutions which positively impact the business focus areas we agreed to in the first steps of the approach.
The example below compares the changes you will see. In the top of the example you'll see actions , what would typically be measured and if we celebrate ,when. In the bottom the actions are the same but there is significant changes to what is measured and celebrated. We will learn how the differences contribute to building and sustaining a problem solving rich culture.
